Il leader attuale del Campionato EMX250 Morgan Lesiardo si è unito al Team Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing MX2 e farà il suo debutto in MX2 nel GP del prossimo fine settimana in Germania.
Dall’inizio della stagione la squadra è stata colpita da infortuni; tre settimane fa a Valkenswaard, Adam Sterry ha danneggiato i legamenti del ginocchio e salterà il resto della stagione. Il pilota britannico ha subito un intervento chirurgico di successo, ma non sarà in grado di guidare la sua Kawasaki KX250F-SR prima della fine del Campionato del Mondo FIM quindi la squadra era alla ricerca di un pilota da far saltare sulla moto per il resto del 2017.
Il giovane Italiano Morgan Lesiardo, solo diciotto anni a metà aprile e leader della serie EMX250 con tre podi nel corso dei primi tre turni, è stato selezionato per far parte del team e sarà già in pista nel Gran Premio MX2 della Germania in quanto non v’è alcuna prova del Campionato EMX250 che compete in quel fine settimana.
Ulteriore buona notizia è il ritorno di Stephen Rubini in Germania; il giovane francese ha recuperato da un infortunio alla caviglia subito un paio di giorni prima del GP d’Europa a Valkenswaard. Dopo i test di successo in settimana si schiererà al fianco di Petar Petrov e Morgan Lesiardo sotto la tenda Monster Energy Kawasaki a Teutschenthal.
Morgan Lesiardo: “Sono così felice di questa opportunità con il team Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2! Ho mostrato buona velocità nei primi tre turni dell’ EMX250 con il team privato italiano Maggiora Park e voglio ringraziarli tanto perché è anche grazie a loro che ora sono qui. Io continuerò a correre nel campionato europeo, cercando di acquisire esperienza e anche ottenere buoni risultati nei GP in MX2, voglio ringraziare tanto tutte le persone che lavorano in questa fantastica squadra, Kawasaki, Monster Energy e tutti gli sponsor della squadra e tutti i miei sponsor che hanno creduto in me! Era il mio sogno, da quando ero un ragazzino e ora è realtà. Voglio cogliere questa opportunità con entrambe le mani e dimostrare quanto posso fare tutto il resto della stagione“!
Jean Jacques Luisetti:“ Finora siamo stati abbastanza sfortunati con gli infortuni, Adam non tornerà a correre in questa stagione e abbiamo la necessità di un altro pilota per rispettare le nostre responsabilità nei confronti di Kawasaki e dei nostri sponsor. Prima di tutto, voglio augurare una pronta guarigione ad Adam. Poi c’erano diverse opzioni, ma, non appena il team Maggiora Park ha lasciato Morgan Lesiardo disponibile, abbiamo espresso un interesse immediato verso di lui. È giovane, è stato davvero forte nella serie MX2 europea, e inizieremo a lavorare con lui il prossimo fine settimana nel Mondiale MX2. Voglio davvero ringraziare la sua ex squadra Maggiora Park; hanno capito la situazione e la possibilità offerta a Morgan. Per noi sarà un piacere avere la tabella rossa sul nostro mostro Kawasaki per il prossimo round della MX2 europea in Francia, e, naturalmente, continuiamo a lavorare per il futuro della squadra“.
Adam Sterry:“ Sono davvero dispiaciuto per questa lesione, al momento sembra che ci sia una nuvola nera sopra la mia testa. Avevamo appena sistemato un paio di cose poi un piccolo urto alla gamba ed è successo questo. Tutti hanno lavorato veramente duro e non sono riuscito a dimostrare quello che sono in grado di fare ancora. Ho avuto un intervento chirurgico la settimana scorsa sul mio ACL ed è andata molto bene! Questa settimana ho iniziato a lavorare con il mio fisioterapista per avere il ginocchio di nuovo al 100%.”
MORGAN LESIARDO JOINS KAWASAKI
Current European 250cc Championship leader Morgan Lesiardo has joined the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team and will make his MX2 GP debut next weekend in Germany.
Since the beginning of the season the team has been hit by unfortunate injuries; three weeks ago in Valkenswaard, Adam Sterry damaged knee ligaments and will now miss the remainder of the season. The British rider underwent successful surgery, but he will not be able to ride his Kawasaki KX250F-SR before the end of the FIM World Championship so the team was looking for a rider to jump on the bike for the remainder of 2017.
Young Italian Morgan Lesiardo, only eighteen years old in mid-April and leader of the European MX2 series with three podiums during the first three rounds, has been selected to join the team and will compete in the MX2 Grand Prix of Germany as there is no round of the EMX that he normally competes in that weekend.
Further good news is the return of Stephen Rubini in Germany; the young Frenchman recovered from an ankle injury sustained a few days before the European GP in Valkenswaard. After successful tests this week he will line up alongside Petar Petrov and Morgan Lesiardo under the Monster Kawasaki awning in Teutschenthal.
Morgan Lesiardo: “I’m so glad about this opportunity with the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 team! I showed good speed in the first three rounds of EMX with the Italian privateer team Maggiora Park and I want to thank them so much because it’s also to their credit that I’m here now. It was my dream when I was a kid and now it’s reality; I want to take this opportunity with both hands and show how much I can do across the remainder of the season!”
Jean Jacques Luisetti: “So far we have been pretty unlucky with injuries, and as Adam will not be back racing this season we needed to sign another rider to respect our responsibilities to Kawasaki and our sponsors. First of all, I want to wish Adam a speedy recovery. Then there were several options but, as soon as the Maggiora Park team let Morgan Lesiardo become available, we expressed an instant interest in him. He is young, has been really strong in the European MX2 series, and we’ll start working with him next weekend in the World MX2. I really want to thank his former team Maggiora Park; they understood the situation and the chance offered to Morgan. For us it will be a pleasure to have the red plate on our Monster Kawasaki for the next round of the European MX2 in France, and of course we continue to work for the future of the team.”
Adam Sterry: “I’m really gutted about this injury as at the moment it seems there is a black cloud hanging over my head. I felt we had just sorted a few things out then a small dab of my leg and this happens. Everyone worked really hard and I didn’t manage to show what we were capable of yet. I had surgery last week on my ACL and it went very well! This week I start my physio to get my knee back to 100%.”
