Hitachi KTM UK Team signs Graeme Irwin and Conrad Mewse for 2018

Graeme Irwin e Conrad Mewse saranno con il Team Hitachi KTM UK di Roger Magee per la stagione 2018 del FIM Motocross World Championship e dell’ACU British MX Championship.

La squadra di Magee non è estranea alla vittoria e la nuova linea di piloti, annunciata oggi al National Dirt Bike Show di Stoneleigh Park (28 ottobre), è un formidabile abbinamento per la ricerca di altri argenti. Fondata nel 2005, il Team è il più riuscito della serie britannica e ha vinto 11 titoli incredibili: la maggior parte con KTM insieme alla più recente vittoria di quest’anno, grazie a Ben Watson, campione britannico MX2 sulla KTM 250 SX-F .

Il campione britannico in carica della classe MX1, Graeme Irwin, 25 anni,passa in KTM per la possibilità di partecipare nel Campionato MXGP per la prima volta continuando a difendere la tabella n°1 nella serie britannica. Il pilota nato da Carrickfergus ha la possibilità di competere nei GP e di guidare il KTM 450 SX-F, vincitore del Campionato del Mondo .

Irwin ha dichiarato: “I miei obiettivi per la stagione sono quelli di riconfermarmi nel campionato britannico e di iniziare l’anno in MXGP nelle prime 15 posizioni e poi puntare alla top 10. Sono davvero entusiasta di guidare la 450 SX-F come quella di Tony Cairoli e Jeffrey Herlings; sono state così forti in questa stagione e KTM è un marchio che sta spingendo costantemente i propri prodotti; sono il leader del mercato per una ragione. Andrò in California un paio di settimane e comincerò a guidare laggiù. Mi concentrerò sulla mia forma fisica e attacherò duramente nel mese di gennaio. Mi sono preparato quest’anno come se stessi andando a correre neiGP e ho girato con alcuni ragazzi che sono già in quella classe. Andrò in Belgio per assicurarmi che il mio allenamento sia il migliore che possa essere per questa stagione!”

Conrad Mewse sarà nella classe MX2 sia nei GP che nel campionato britannico. Dopo i titoli nei campionati mondiali e britannici del 2013, il diciottenne ha avuto una rapida crescita attraverso le categorie portando a termine la sua prima stagione di Gran Premi quest’anno, terminando al 16° posto con 225 punti.

Mewse ha dichiarato: “Non vedo l’ora di iniziare una nuova pagina nella mia carriera e di tornare in KTM. Mi sembra di tornare a casa perché ho avuto un grande successo con questo marchio in passato. Spero che insieme saremo in grado di raggiungere alcuni dei miei obiettivi futuri e il KTM 250 SX-F è senza dubbio un’arma – le loro moto non mi hanno mai deluso. La prossima stagione sarà anche la mia prima stagione nel Campionato britannico di motocross. Non ho girato nella serie britannica dai miei giorni in 65 e 85, quindi sarà sicuramente una stagione di apprendimento. Ci saranno molte gare in MX2 tra i Gran Premi e nel Regno Unito, ma ho avuto un mese di riposo e ho completamente recuperato dalla stagione 2017. Il piano è quello di allenarsi duro per l’inverno e tornare rapidamente in forma”.

Perchè la squadra di Roger Magee sia più pronta che mai a correre, riceverà anche un aumento di sostegno da KTM per il 2018.

KTM UK SIGNS IRWIN AND MEWSE FOR 2018

Graeme Irwin and Conrad Mewse will lead the way for Roger Magee’s KTM UK-backed team for a full-on assault in the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship and the ACU British Motocross Championship.

Magee’s team is no stranger to victory and the new rider line-up, announced at the International Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park today (October 28), is a formidable pairing for chasing more silverware. Founded in 2005, the outfit is the most successful in the British series and has won an incredible 11 titles – the majority with KTM and the most recent coming this year, courtesy of Ben Watson as British MX2 champion on the KTM 250 SX-F.

Reigning British MX1 champion, Graeme Irwin, 25, moves to KTM for a chance to participate in the MXGP Championship for the first time along with defending the no.1 plate in the UK series. The Carrickfergus-born rider is relishing the chance to compete in Grand Prix and to ride the World Championship-winning KTM 450 SX-F.

Irwin said: “My goals for the season are to retain the British championship and to start the year in MXGP in the top 15 and progress to the top 10. I‘m really excited to ride the 450 SX-F as Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings have been so strong this season and KTM is a brand is constantly pushing their products forward; they’re the market leader for a reason.

“I will go to California in a couple of weeks and start riding over there. I’ll focus on my physical training and attack it hard in January. I prepared myself this year like I was going to be riding in GPs and I’ve raced some guys who are already in that class. I’ll move to Belgium to make sure my training is the best it can be for this season. Bring it on!”

Conrad Mewse will be tasked with the team’s MX2 attack in both Grand Prix and the British championship. Since his 2013 World and British 85cc championships titles, the 18-year old has had a rapid rise through categories and the #426 competed his first season of Grand Prix this year, finishing 16th overall with 225 points.

Mewse said: “I’m looking forward to starting a new page in my career and returning to KTM. It feels like I’m coming back home as I’ve had a lot of success with the brand in the past. I’m hoping together we will be able to fulfil some of my future goals and the KTM 250 SX-F is no doubt a weapon – their bikes have never disappointed me.

“Next season will also be my first season in the British Motocross Championship. I’ve not raced a British series since my 65 and 85cc days, so it is going to be a learning curve for sure. There’s going to be a lot of races with doing MX2 in both Grand Prix and the UK, but I’ve had a month off and I’m fully recovered from this season. The plan is to train hard over winter and come out of the blocks fast.”

Helping to make sure Roger Magee’s squad is more READY TO RACE than ever, they will also receive increased Factory support from KTM for 2018.
