Nel GP di Bulgaria, punti importanti per Michael Mantovani nella EMX250. Dieci punti per Simone Furlotti nel Mondiale MX2, infortunio per Maxime Renaux.

Maxime Renaux 2018 MXGP of Bulgaria Sevlievo

Dopo una assenza di quattro anni, il Circus del Mondiale Motocross ritorna in Bulgaria, sulla spettacolare pista di Sevlievo, a circa duecento KM da Sofia. Con l’assenza di Michele Cervellin, rimasto in Italia per un controllo medico, i piloti presenti del Team SM Action Yamaha sono stati tre: Michael Mantovani nell’Europeo EMX250 – Simone Furlotti e Maxime Renaux nel Mondiale MX2, che in vista della prossima stagione, ha deciso di dedicarsi completamente alla categoria maggiore.

Le prove cronometrate della MX2 hanno visto Renaux realizzare il dodicesimo tempo mentre Furlotti ottiene il diciannovesimo. Nella manche di qualifica, Maxime scatta bene allo start e si mantiene intorno alla settima posizione. Nel corso della frazione di gara viene superato da Lawrence al primo passaggio, da Weltin al quinto e da Rubini a due giri dal termine. Maxime chiude pertanto decimo dimostrando però una buona velocità. Simone Furlotti invece parte in fondo al gruppo, da 22° risale fino alla 19ª posizione prima di ritirarsi per un grosso calo fisico.

Prima manche della MX2 e subito si mette in mostra il francese. Al primo giro transita decimo ma nel secondo è coinvolto in una caduta per colpa di un addetto che non segnala a dovere che sul percorso c’è la moto di Vlaanderen. Purtroppo Renaux la centra e cadendo prende una grossa botta al muscolo del braccio sinistro. Dopo un attento controllo medico viene presa la decisione di non prendere parte alla seconda manche.

Rispetto alla gara di qualifica, Simone Furlotti si riprende fisicamente e disputa due manche molto concrete. Nella prima gara Simone parte a ridosso dei primi dieci ma incappa in una piccola scivolata che lo fa retrocedere 23°. Senza perdersi d’animo inizia la sua rimonta che termina al 16° posto. Buona la partenza anche in gara due. Il ritmo è ottimo e mantiene agevolmente la nona piazza, anzi al decimo passaggio supera Sandner e si prende l’ottava posizione. Sembra anche poter insidiare Weltin ma a tre giri dal termine, arriva corto su un salto in salita e perde ben otto posizioni. Cerca ancora di recuperare ma scivola ancora e decide di rallentare e prendersi i punti della 16ª piazza.

Su una pista dal fondo duro, Micheal Mantovani scende in pista per la penultima prova dell’Europeo EMX250 con la convinzione di fare bene. Nelle Time Practice è ventesimo ad un secondo dai primi quindici. Nella prima manche riesce a partire 17°, guadagna subito una posizione ma la riperde a circa metà gara. Sul traguardo la posizione non cambia ma ottiene i primi punti della stagione. Nella seconda ha un buon start e con un passo gara regolare chiude quindicesimo aggiungendo altri punti alla sua classifica personale.

2018 MXGP of Bulgaria – Importants point for Michael Mantovani in EMX250. Ten Points for Simone Furlotti in MX2. Maxime Renaux injured.

After four years, Motocross World Championship Circus went back to Bulgaria, at the spectacular Sevlievo Circuit, about 200km from Sofia. As Michele Cervellin stayed in Italy for more accurate medical checks, there were three riders for Team SM Action Yamaha: Michael Mantovani in EMX250 European Championship and Simone Furlotti and Maxime Renaux in MX2 World Championship. Maxime decided to dedicate completely on the major category as he is looking forward to the next season.

In MX2 Timed Practice Renaux was 12^th fastest while Furlotti was 19^th. In Qualifying Race, Maxime started well and he was around the 7^th place. Through the race, though, he was passed by Lawrence at lap 1, Weltin at lap 5 and Rubini at two laps to go. So Maxime finished the race in 10^th place, however, he showed some good speed. Simone Furlotti, instead, started in the back of the group and from the 22^nd place he moved up to the 19^th before retiring for a big physical drop.

In MX2 Race 1 the French had a good start. During lap 1 he was 10th, but at lap 2 he got involved in a crash due to a race official that didn’t report properly that there was Vlaanderen’s bike on the track. Unluckily, Renaux hit that bike and while falling he suffered a bruise at his left arm’s muscle. After a careful medical check, the decision to not participating to Race 2 was taken.

Simone Furlotti recovered well from the Qualifying Race and he made two concrete races. At the beginning of Race 1 Simone was very close to the Top 10 but then he had a slip and he moved back to the 23^rd place. Without giving it up, he started to recover and he finished 16^th. He had a good start in Race 2 too. His pace was excellent and he easily managed to keep the 9^th place. At lap 10 he also overtook Sandner and he was 8^th, and it seemed he could have a go for the 7^th place laying a trap to Weltin. With three laps to go, though, he arrived short to an uphill jump and he lost eight positions. He tried to move up again but had another slip, so he then decided to slow down and gain points from his 16^th place.

On the hard surfaced track of Sevlievo, Michael Mantovani went to the second to last race of the EMX250 European Championship being convinced to make a good result. In Timed Practice he was 20^th with one second of gap from the Top 15. In Race 1 he managed to start in 17^th place, he gained one more place straight away and lost it at half of the race. At the checkered flag, then, his placement didn’t change and he gained his first points of the season. In Race 2 he had a good start and a constant race pace, so he finished 15^th and he added more points to his General Classification.
