Il campione del mondo MX2 e attuale detentore della tabella rossa Jorge Prado non prenderà parte al secondo round del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross 2019 questo fine settimana in Gran Bretagna dopo aver subito un infortunio alla spalla durante l’allenamento.
Il 18enne spagnolo, che ha vinto entrambe le manche in apertura stagionale in Argentina, ha subito un incidente mentre si allenava due settimane fa e si è lamentato di una spalla sinistra dolorante. Credendo che l’impatto non abbia avuto grande importanza, Prado ha continuato a prepararsi per l’evento nel Matterley Basin di questo fine settimana, ma ha sentito che le condizioni dell’articolazione si deteriorano e diventano più dolorose.
Un ulteriore esame medico dettagliato con il famoso chirurgo e specialista Dr Claes in Belgio ha rivelato che un ematoma sotto la scapola sinistra stava causando il disagio. Il miglior percorso di recupero prevede il riposo, Prado tornerà per un altro check-up martedì 26 per ulteriori valutazioni in vista del Gran Premio dei Paesi Bassi a Valkenswaard.
Claudio De Carli, team manager della Red Bull KTM : “Dopo un inizio di stagione così forte per la squadra è deludente per tutti che lui e Jeffrey ora manchino il Matterley Basin e il primo round europeo del 2019. Sfortunatamente questo fa parte dello sport ma, fortunatamente, potrebbe essere peggio e speriamo che Jorge tornerà in sella molto velocemente. Siamo in buona forma e siamo fiduciosi, e crediamo che non sarà una grande battuta d’arresto per noi in una lunga stagione “.
Prado to miss British Grand Prix with small shoulder problem
MX2 World Champion and current red plate holder Jorge Prado will not take part in the second round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship this weekend in Great Britain after sustaining a shoulder injury while training.
The 18 year old Spaniard, who won both motos at the season-opener in Argentina, suffered a crash while practicing two weeks ago and complained of a sore left shoulder. Believing the impact to carry no great significance Prado continued to prepare for the event in Matterley Basin this weekend but felt the condition of the joint deteriorate and become more painful.
Further detailed medical examination with renowned surgeon and specialist Dr Claes in Belgium revealed a haematoma under the left shoulder blade was causing the discomfort. The best course of recovery involves rest, and Prado will return for another check-up on Tuesday 26th for further evaluation ahead of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at Valkenswaard.
Claudio De Carli, Red Bull KTM Team Manager: “After such a strong start to the season for the team and Jorge it is disappointing for everyone that he and Jeffrey are now missing Matterley Basin and the first European round of 2019. Unfortunately this is part of the sport but, fortunately, it could be worse and we hope Jorge will be back on the bike very quickly. We’re in good shape and we are confident, and we believe this will not be such a big setback for us in what is a long season.”
