Yamaha Motor Europe è lieta di annunciare che è stata formata una nuova partnership con il team Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha MXGP, dove l’equipaggio con sede a Rogat, nei Paesi Bassi, opererà come team supportato da Yamaha Motor Europe all’interno del Campionato mondiale di motocross FIM 2020. Il team schiererà tre piloti in sella alla YZ450F nella classe regina. Il veterano di alto profilo della MXGP Alessandro Lupino continuerà con il team per il terzo anno e sarà affiancato da due entusiasmanti giovani esordienti, Thomas Covington e Calvin Vlaanderen.
L’ex campione del mondo di Motocross Alessandro Lupino rimarrà nel Gebben Van Venrooy Team per la terza stagione. Il felice ventinovenne di Viterbo, Italia, è entusiasta di entrare nella sua quinta stagione nella classe regina con il familiare supporto del team MXGP supportato da Yamaha Gebben, dove si schiererà sulla YZ450F all’avanguardia.
Si uniranno a Lupino con la comprovata YZ450F Yamaha, gli ex vincitori della MX2 Thomas Covington e Calvin Vlaanderen che faranno il passaggio dalla MX2 alla classe MXGP nel 2020. Tra loro in MX2 hanno accumulato 26 podi e cinque vittorie nel Grand Prix.
L’americano ha avuto maggior successo nel contestare il Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross nell’ultimo decennio con quattro vittorie nel Gran Premio della MX2 e 16 podi della MX2. Covington, 24enne dell’Alabama, tornerà in Europa dove farà il suo debutto in MXGP a bordo della YZ450F nel round di apertura del campionato mondiale di motocross FIM 2020 di Matterley a Winchester, in Inghilterra.
Si unirà a Lupino e Covington dopo un buon fine stagione in MX2, dove ha festeggiato con una vittoria inaugurale per i Paesi Bassi nel Monster Energy Motocross of Nations del 2019, ad Assen, Paesi Bassi, Vlaanderen è fortemente motivato a iniziare l’allenamento con il Team MXGP supportato da Gebben Yamaha . Il 23enne sudafricano, che ha anche ottenuto la cittadinanza olandese, ha ottenuto quattro presenze sul podio nella sua ultima stagione in MX2 e, come Covington, è determinato a compiere con successo una transizione dalla 250cc alla 450cc.
Alessandro Lupino: “Sono davvero felice di essere tornato su Yamaha. Ho fatto il mio debutto nel campionato del mondo su Yamaha e ho fatto parte della famiglia Yamaha per molti anni, quindi è davvero bello essere di nuovo in sella a una bici blu soprattutto con questa squadra perché hanno lavorato così duramente negli ultimi due anni che io sono stato con loro. Il team ha iniziato come una piccola squadra e sono migliorati anno dopo anno, quindi sono felice che il prossimo anno ci schiereremo con una squadra molto forte. Sono davvero motivato di passare alla 450cc e anche se tutto sarà nuovo per me e sarà sicuramente un anno di apprendimento, sento di aver avuto esperienze incredibili in MX2 che posso portare con la classe più grande e mi sento come se potessi ottenere dei buoni risultati. Il team è fantastico ed estremamente motivato soprattutto con il passaggio a Yamaha, e ne ho una buona sensazione. So che lavoreremo molto duramente per la prossima stagione. “
Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Supported MXGP Team Enters 2020 MXGP Season with Alessandro Lupino, Thomas Covington & Calvin Vlaanderen
Yamaha Motor Europe is delighted to announce that a new partnership has been formed with the freshly named Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Supported MXGP Team where the outfit based in Rogat, The Netherlands, will operate as a Yamaha Motor Europe ‘Supported’ team inside the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship. The team will field three YZ450F riders in the premier class. High profile MXGP veteran Alessandro Lupino will continue with the team for a third year and will be joined on the gate by two exciting young rookies, Thomas Covington and Calvin Vlaanderen.
Former Junior Motocross World Champion Alessandro Lupino will remain on the Gebben Van Venrooy Team for a third season. The happy-go-lucky 29-year-old from Viterbo, Italy is excited to enter his fifth season inside the premier class with the familiar support of the Gebben Yamaha Supported MXGP Team where he will line-up on a cutting edge YZ450F machine.
Joining Lupino on Yamaha’s proven YZ450F, former MX2 Grand Prix winners Thomas Covington and Calvin Vlaanderen will make the step-up from MX2 to the MXGP class in 2020. Between them in MX2 they have accumulated 26 podium finishes and five Grand Prix wins.
As the most successful American to contest the FIM Motocross World Championship in the last decade with four MX2 Grand Prix wins and 16 MX2 podium finishes, Covington, a 24-year-old from Alabama, is set to return to Europe where he will make his MXGP debut onboard a YZ450F at the opening round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship at Matterley Basin in Winchester, England.
Joining Lupino and Covington after a powerful end to his MX2 career where he celebrated a maiden win for The Netherlands at the 2019 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations, in Assen, The Netherlands, Vlaanderen is highly motivated to start training with the Gebben Yamaha Supported MXGP Team. The 23-year-old South African, who has also obtained Dutch citizenship, made four podium appearances in his final MX2 season and, like Covington, is determined to make a successful transition from the 250cc to the 450cc.
Alessandro Lupino: “I’m really happy to be back on Yamaha. I made my World Championship debut on Yamaha and I was a part of the Yamaha Family for many years, so it is really nice to be back on a blue bike especially with this team because they have worked so hard over the last two years that I have been with them. The team started out as a small team and they have improved year after year, so I am happy that next year we will line up with a very strong team. I think that with my teammates Thomas Covington and Calvin Vlaanderen, we can do a lot for the team, and I know they will do a lot for us. I am looking forward to training with them and I think it will be a great and fun season.”

I’m really motivated to move up to the 450cc and although everything will be new to me and it will definitely be a learning year, I feel I have had some incredible experiences in MX2 that I can carry with into the bigger class and I feel like I can get some good result. The team is awesome and extremely motivated especially with the switch to Yamaha, and I get a good feeling from that. I know that we will work very hard for the upcoming season.”
